THE ESSENCE OF CEDAR RETREAT
The interior design of the accommodation at the retreat is characterised by a focus on crisp and clean aesthetics, with an emphasis on earth elements that celebrate natural materials. Elements such as the grain in the wood and the earthy colours are used to highlight the beauty of natural materials. Hand woven carpets, made from locally sourced cotton or sheep wool, add a touch of softness.
The long wooden veranda provides ample space for guests to relax and enjoy the surrounding views. This vista includes the foreground with trees and elephant grass, giving way to taller tress covered in
"old mans beard". There's a magnificent tree deck from which guests can observe wildlife as they come to the salt lick and water hole below.
Each of the six cabins, designed for two guests, is thoughtfully crafted for comfort and connection to the surrounding environment. One cabin, now expanded, features a double room, a twin room, and an additional bed for children, making it ideal for families to enjoy this unique and nature immersed experience.

The retreat is popular for its tranquillity and cooler climate, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The combination of the lodges elevation and the cold air in the Aberdares region results in relatively low temperatures, particularly during the early mornings, evenings, and nights. To ensure a comfortable stay, we recommend you bring suitable clothing to stay warm and to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
